On 21 June in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin, the Dept. of the Taoiseach
and winners of this year’s Irish Central eGovernment Award,
along with international eDemocracy expert, Dr Julia Glidden from
Sheffield City Council, present a picture of how eGovernment at
a local and national level, is impacting on our political decision
makers. Gary Kearney from safefood also presents one of the most
exciting and innovative technology projects within the food and
research sector.

Agenda includes case study presentations from
Peter
Ryan, Assistant Secretary, Dept. of the Taoiseach
and winners of the 2006 Irish Central eGovernment Award for eCabinet,
presents a case study and shares insights into how they achieved
such an integrated online resource serving Irish Ministers and
Civil Servants
Dr
Julia Glidden, Sheffield City Council e-Democracy
Advisor, shares their experience of eDemocracy in action. Dr Glidden
has been directly involved in the implementation of the UK’s
2002 and 2003 e-voting pilots and recent National e-Democracy
Project.
Dr
Gary A. Kearney, the Laboratory Liaison Manager with
safefood offers an insight into his experiences in introducing
the LIMS project which is paving the way to a far faster means
of identifying real or potential food risks and outbreaks in Ireland.
This important project for the first time facilitates Irish laboratories
electronically log and transmit their food analysis results and
so speed up data access, processing, and the reporting of routine
and outbreak findings. This project involved securing and managing
cross-agency, national and cross boarder co-operation.
